Final Project
When starting this class having no experience with LinkedIn I was apprehensive. Not knowing how to use the app or how the app functions confused me. This was one of the few apps that genuinely confused me because there is so much content on the app. It almost reminded me of Facebook but for the job market. Through this class building my profile and having more experience with the app helped me get more familiar. LinkedIn by far seems to be one of the most professional ways to network and connect. People ranging from all different companies and businesses looking to hire or either seeking work. This app provides the professional accounts of Fortune five companies to small businesses and even internships. There isn’t just one audience on LinkedIn. A person can display their skills, expertise, experiences, and education. Market themselves using social media to get a job or position.
Participating in this class taught me many things about social media and networking. Everything from propaganda, laws, ethics, Dataclouds, and social media search engines there was a lot of interesting information regarding those topics. Expose me to things I was unfamiliar with and provided an education to assist me in making further decisions on how I want to use social media in the near future. Reading about the meta-verse in Mark Zuckerberg's thoughts on Facebook and expanding technologies. This is very fulfilling and informative. Knowing that there are people who own large businesses who exploit or with purpose make detrimental apps. It brings everything into perspective that just because social media brings us together does not mean it is good. While learning about some companies and their strategies to gain users and customers it also let me into having a more personal and human relationship with my peers instead of just online. Also reminded about the fact that your privacy is constantly at risk. I understand social media can help and benefit you in certain ways but at the same time learning about all these things made me realize how great it is to have privacy. The fact we are moving away from privacy is scary; Hopefully, we won’t get too far into this rabbit hole and users start seeing the truths. Not only with privacy but dehumanized experiences. I understand social media may connect but a reminder it should be for social and professional purposes. It is not to be dependent on entertainment. Nonetheless, the type of entertainment people are accessible to. Yes, there are content creators, influencers, and brand ambassadors. It’s just a reminder that information and connections can be endless just be aware and careful where you have or express them.
