When reading about data none of this really surprised me. My personal feelings towards the situation does not necessarily stop it from happening. When I think about it; I am reminded that my information is just being recorded by a system and put into an algorithm with or without my permission. Pretty much these days if you have any modern technology your information is being recorded along with your data. Even though I do not like this; and consider it invasive. I look at this as the new normal. As technology advances engineers and developers want to be able to judge data by numbers. This affects my personal usage every day because my phone, social media apps, Safari, any Internet or app you enter through your phone is recording you and turning it into data. This is for phones, computers, any digitalize or computerized system does this including TVs. This does not affect my usage. It does affect where I search for my research or data. In the professional capacity this limits my usage due to the knowledge that companies and people can find your information on the Internet or practically anywhere. This can affect peoples job statuses, if you belong to an organization or if you are an affiliate of any sort. Social media could both limit or optimize your opportunities depending on how one uses it. I do believe in the ethics of professionals going and looking through social media. When addressing peoples profiles I do believe if the post was from years ago and they were partying etc. That should not affect their job opportunity. I feel like professionals should limit what they look for instead of judging a person on what they put out there. If the person has a knowledge, the capacity and the work ethic but their social media is full of Memes, parties and jokes. Is the employer going to look at the personality of the page or what they see on paper? Yes, at the same time do not post yourself doing extremely reckless or savage things. When it comes to hiring someone I believe if they fit the expectations and have the work ethic and drive that should talk over the personality of one social media page. As long as what the person is saying is not problematic or harmful to the company.
