Hands-On Assignment 2

 When defining media, I would define it as: the means of mass communication. Social networking; is the platform to access the media. When it comes to social media the networks I use are: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Snapchat. When it comes to usage of the apps Instagram and Snapchat focus on the more social aspect of my life. These apps come into usage when communicating with my friends or sending funny Memes. Tik-tok and YouTube are platforms I look to watch traveling Vlogs and to explore cooking recipes. These two apps are more for my personal use. Due to those apps being more personal; I do use those apps the most. Both YouTube and Tik-tok serve purposes from attempting new meals to also researching new travel destinations. Watching people’s channels and seeing their experiences can help determine what to do, where to go, or what to eat in other cities and countries. Snapchat and Instagram once again I only use when in contact with my friends. When using social media I do limit my feelings towards social media. I constantly remind myself that a lot of what people post or influencer post it’s up to their views or likes. I try never to compare social media to myself or my life because the two cannot relate. I guess these are my feelings towards social media and the world. I see both good and bad but none of those are defining factors unless I have the full story with all the content; which 90% of the time you do not. Referring to my friends and family; they have the power and choice to choose what they post. Whether I agree or disagree is my business. If it comes to the topic of politics. I am not willing to discuss anything relating to human rights or abilities. Which causes me to look at my family differently because why are we trying to limit people’s choices and rights? We are all different people and have many different experiences. Instead of trolling and hating on what a person chose to do. Shift the energy of the conversation and see where they are coming from.
